Open Studio Event Friday, 15 November 2024, at 20:00
Come meet our current resident artists: Lenka Kubelová from the Czech Republic and Lea Culetto from Slovenia, on Friday, 15 November 2024, at 20:00.
Lenka and Lea will be hosted by Snehta until January 2025 as part of the second phase of the SAIR program, in which we are honored to participate. This event offers an opportunity to come together, rekindle connections, and exchange ideas amidst the thriving artistic communities in Athens. As our resident artists present their work, research ideas, and thoughts on the topic of sustainability—a core theme that runs through the SAIR program—an open dialogue will hopefully be sparked around issues that concern us all.
SAIR (Sustainability is in the AIR) – co-funded by the European Union – is a two-year-long program (2023-2025) that, through the operational strategies of four residential centers in Ljubljana (MGLC), Madrid (Matadero), Prague (MeetFactory), and Athens (Snehta), aims to encourage sustainable artistic practices and promote an inventive, ongoing creative exchange between artists from diverse cultural and sociopolitical backgrounds.
Lenka Kubelová graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. Through fermentation projects and fermentation labs, she explores relationships with non-humans and finds inspiration for social change toward more holistic systems. She believes in the power of subtle actions. She also works as an educator, editor, and gardener.
Lea Culetto works in the field of visual arts, with an emphasis on feminism. Using textiles and mixed media, Culetto creates objects and installations. Her works, often inspired by personal experience, question ideals, taboos, and perceptions of the female body. Culetto completed her master’s degree at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia, in 2019. Since then, she has worked as a self-employed intermedia artist.
